Using Web Conferencing to Connect and Support Students Online

Web conferencing tools are a valuable resource that can foster community and support in an online math course. Offering online office hours, tutoring, and labs connects the students to the teacher in a live setting that diversifies the pedagogical approaches available in an online course.


About the Presenter:

Christina Holdiness is currently the Assistant Coordinator for the Mathematics Preparations Programs at the University of California, Riverside. She earned her Master of Science in Mathematics from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2009 and has served as an adjunct and full-time instructor at various colleges. Over the past year, she has redesigned the Intermediate Algebra Workshop from a ground workshop to an online workshop.
