Taking Advantage of Covid to Teach Economics

Now more than ever, students are interested in learning about economic policies and their implications. Instructors can employ more news and real-life examples in economics courses to improve student engagement andenhance critical thinking skills.

During this presentation, Professor Hamideh Shokoohian will demonstrate where to find such examples and how to employ them to maximize benefits for students. Her goal is for students to be able to recall examples from economics classes in their day-to-day lives.


About the Presenter:

Hamideh Shokoohian is a full-time lecturer at Yorkville University. She has an M.A. in economics from Simon Fraser University and has been teaching economics and statistics courses in several institutions in Canada. Apart from teaching, Professor Shokoohian is also active in course development, book review, and coaching new instructors.
